We Can Make The World Better
The Scooty Fund’s story begins with the life of Will Taylor (aka Scooty), who died by suicide at age 21, on March 4, 2017. Will’s suicide devastated his family, friends, and communities. The Scooty Fund was born of grief – as a way to cope with this enormous loss.
One year after Will’s death, Will’s sister Kasey (Taylor) Thompson, friend Tara Nielson, and fellow dedicated board members launched The Scooty Fund in his memory. Driven by its mission, The Scooty Fund focuses on encouraging conversations, destigmatizing mental illness, raising funds for research and resources, building supportive and open communities, educating others, and, above all, helping young adults prioritize their mental health in ways that work. The Scooty Fund helps individuals heal and grow together — shoulder-to-shoulder.

A World Without Suicide
We envision a reality in which young adults have access to the knowledge, communities, support, and resources needed to prioritize and effectively care for their mental wellness.
We are working to create a world in which mental health is viewed as inherently valuable and complex. We seek to foster a culture in which conversations about mental health are not only destigmatized but encouraged, young adults feel comfortable turning to peers and professionals for support, and individuals believe they are worthy regardless of external validation. We value mindfulness, connection, and non-judgmental acceptance.
